Forcing flex into skate boots for striding?

Postby JeffOYB » Mon Jan 09, 2017 9:19 am

Has anyone abused their old skate boots into becoming decent for striding?

Skate soles are stiff -- but what if they are forcibly bent over and over again? Will they break or get flexy?

I'm looking at buying some old worn skate boots for a kids program and am wondering if the kids will be able to stride in them at all. They already look fairly flexed...

I used and old pair of Salomon skate boots for classic skiing. They were the first model of yellow and black skate boots from the late 90s I think. They were quite worn. Not sure how they might have negatively impacted my classic skiing but they dod work.

Often though, zippers and liners fail first so be sure to check those if you are looking at a used boot.
