Sierra BC conditions

Postby runcyclexcski_uk » Mon Mar 17, 2014 6:17 pm

If anyone has skied in the High Sierras above 8,000 feet within the past week, what were the snow conditions? The CA water resources page reports ~2 feet of snow on the ground at various stations, but I am wondering how much variance there is from spot to spot.

Going there this weekend.

There's a report with pictures right now at backpackinglight--I think they went to moose lake, but I could be wrong. Kings Canyon area. I think that there's likely to be not much consistent snow most places below 8500 feet, maybe above that too if the area is open granite, which melts off fast.

oh, I just looked at the date of your posting...never mind!
