I already created a topic about the Catamount Trail in the "NorthEast" board, but it is also relevant to "Backcountry".
The Catamount Trail is a 300-mile backcountry cross-country ski trail in Vermont that extends the length of the state from north to south. It is the longest such trail in North America.
The Catamount Trail is maintained by a non-profit organization, the Catamount Trail Association (http://catamounttrail.org). The CTA organizes ski tours and other events.
In the last couple of years, the CTA has expanded its mission to support and advocate for backcountry skiing elsewhere in Vermont, including alpine-style backcountry skiing and snowboarding.
