Postby JeffOYB » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:30 pm

For your amusement... the series is announced...

*POTTO RAID: 1/15, 10 am. (Catch the Raid the day after the Frosty Freestyle 15k, if you dare!) -- 16 miles, technical, expert, gorgeous, big hills

*STINCHFIELD LOPPET: 2/26 -- 10 miles, moderate, gorgeous, big hills

*JORDAN JAM: 3/11 -- 18 miles, tech/expert, gorgeous, big hills

*WATERLOO EPIC: date? Only a few days a season have the base and the cushion -- then we jump! 37 miles, tech/expert, gorgeous, big hills. Dark-to-dark.

The first 3 make up the MI backcountry series. The 4th is for heroes. Collect 'em all!

No fees, no rules, non events.

Very cool to see more of this style racing.

Also, dates have been set for the Copper Harbor Backcountry Snow Race: http://www.copperharbortrails.org/event/2012-02-25/352

Not sure exactly what they have planned for this year, but it typically works like this:

Race anything you want, as long as it's human powered.
Typically 10-15 miles each day. And covers the kind of terrain Copper Harbor is known for.
Camping available for the truly hard core.
Race entry fee is a bit steep, but usually worth it as they include a ton of home cooked food throughout the weekend.
