I watched that happen. :) The screenshot on johnnyklister makes it seem like he's doing a plank in midair.

The finish was super exciting too. Just when I thought Cologna was going to get it Eldar started striding. By the time Dario figured out that he was being out "strided" it was too late. I suppose knowing when to stride and when to pole just comes from 30 years of knowing how to classic ski. It's something I'll never be able to figure out.

I watched a replay of the entire race on NRK. The race course coverage from the Norwegians was amazing compared to all of the Eurosport torrent downloads that I have watched this year. That was a great finish after 50k. Roenning moved into his classic sprint while he was still behind Colonna(?) which got him up the little rise to the finish where he launched himself. Kris Freeman had a great race but could not handle the acceleration in the last couple k's. It would be fun to ski at Holmenkollen just once.

Great find, jt10000! That's a keeper. Thanks.

Been awhile since we've seen two double-polers switch to striding in the last 50 meters. What a finish. I had to download the 720p version to see how fluidly Roenning timed his footwork/body position/poling so he wouldn't lose much momentum in his first couple strides. Looks like Cologna shortened his stride for higher turnover in the last 15 meters or so and that was the difference. Hat's off to Roenning for putting on a clinic.

Awesome!
