A star is born

Postby Neuro » Sat Nov 26, 2016 2:41 pm

So say skiers and commentators of Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo (20) of Norway, and it's clear why as today he managed to get a podium in his first ever world cup race as a senior (he did one WC race last year after becoming world champion junior), in the opening race of the world cup, which was classic sprint in Ruka, Finland. This was after winning the prologue so it was incredible.

And last weekend he beat all at the Norwegian season opener at Beitostoelen, that time in skate. Last year he dominated as a junior.

His skiing technique in both styles gets raves, as does his burst and top speed, but IMO what's even more impressive is his tactical awareness and levelheadedness in races. Also off the track he is very mature, not getting carried away and saving his energy, like he knows this is just one small step. Amazing.. :-P

Now no. 2 overall in Lillehammer WC minitour, his second WC event as senior. Just a couple of seconds behind the winner Sundby. Wow.

..And then ending the season in Quebec with victory in the 15 km Classic Mass start and 15 km Free Pursuit, taking the overall Canada Mini Tour victory.

I will not mark every result from now on, from his first season in World Cup is more than enough to show what pundits say is the biggest ever XC talent. :prayer:
