Climb to the Castle (Rollerski race)

Anyone here ever race the annual Climb to the Castle rollerski race in Wilmington, NY (Whiteface Mountain)? How did you train?

I haven't done that race, but twice raced up that climb as part of a bicycle stage race. Took me about an hour each time, including 2 to 3 miles of similar climbing outside the gate, following 70 miles of racing to the base. There was snow on the sides of the road one time - I think it was May but maybe late June. Very very steady grade.

Locals also ski on snow on that road, particularly in the early season.
