Congratulations to team USA! Stina said before the race that she didn't want to have Jessica with her the last 100 m, and now we know why. Fantastic effort by both Kikkan and Jessica.

I knew better than to log onto this site, Facebook, radio, or the local NBC affiliate. I was setting up the TV last night to watch the race, and quick blurb came through and in three words I knew the result of the race. Still, it was good to watch and a huge shot in the arm for local skiing.

After 9 days in afib, I think I'm back in rhythm.

Incredible performance. Won on merit.

Diggins got 7th in the 30 km as well so was on top form, but Randall's showing was maybe even more impressive as she's been out of it for a while.

Kikkan was 3rd in a World Cup skate sprint in December, but then had an injury, foot pain while skating. By the 4x5K relay, she was definitely on form. Her skate leg there just about matched Jessie's, 12:12.9 to 12:11.7.

I didn't want to say it before the race, but they could have been looked at as the favorites, since they went 2-3 at the World Championships last season in the freestyle sprint, and were team sprint world champions together in 2013. They ended up skiing like it too, in both the prelim and final, which is beyond awesome.

i thot the Team gold represented their style very well.

different from a relay in that only 2 skiers went back'n'forth. a true team effort. not so common in XC but it really seems part of today's women's team culture. there's chemistry.
