Cripes. I'm glad I didn't sign up for the long one.

At least the waxing will be easy.....

The stuff in the woods out of the wind shouldn't be too bad, and as long as we don't get too much new snow to slow things down, the trail conditions should be pretty good.

....time to get the heavy polypro base layers out I guess....

Could be pretty tough weather for standing around at the start line.

Strategy:

Have someone drive you to the race start, and stay in the warm car until 15 minutes before the start.

Think I might get some old sweats and leave them on until I get warm.

Hmmm.....

Sunday Low, -20F
Sunday High, -2F

Saturday night wind gusts, 41mph! The winds are supposed to die-down by morning, but the windchill is forecast at -39F at 9am, -34F at 10am.

Yeah, that's a problem. I know how to dress at -5F and a little wind, but -15F and wind is new territory. At that point I start thinking about an uptempo ski in a jacket and wind pants.

I have yet to register for Mora as I'm still expecting them to postpone, shorten, or otherwise alter the race. I'm quite skeptical they'll have a full-length race with those high winds in the forecast. Brrrrrr!!! Best of luck to everyone...cover your skin :)

The North End Classic in Cable, WI, scheduled for the same day as Mora, has been postponed till next Sunday.

Hard to do with a race as large and complex as Mora. Good luck to all that are doing it.
