Bear Chase!

Postby Askel » Sat Feb 16, 2008 12:36 am

Looking forward to entering for my first time this year. I consider it my home event. I've been the 8K Aid Station Director of Radio Communications/Cup Chasing for the past couple of years.

Aybody else going?

Since it's close to home and sort of marks the end of my serious skate efforts for the year, I anticipate keeping the Offical People's Front Of Superior Ski Team Support Vehicle stocked with adult beverages so I can enjoy a few beers with my post-race pasty. :D

We used to do it with ham radio gear on simplex, but the guy in charge of radios for the event got himself a bunch of commercial equipment for his business, so now we use that. Makes it a little easier to hand out radios to the ski patrol and other non-ham event workers.

Wouldn't it be nice if they would let us serve beer in the middle school gym following the race? At its core the race is a fund raiser for the trails and that would be one way we could make lots of money.

For those interested, the course is in great shape this year. We have not had much in the way of warm-ups this winter and the base is very deep.
