Ski season starts Saturday!

Postby Biffbradford » Wed Nov 05, 2008 8:53 am

Roller ski race at 10am at LaGrange, WI, then Garrot Kuzzy is having at book signing at the Bicycle Doctor at 1pm.

28k Roll For Snow: http://www.crapracing.com/competitive_r ... te_003.htm.

Then Sunday, it's back to cyclocross with the Save Ferris 'Cross race in Northbrook, IL or the Viking 'Cross Single Speed Championships in Madison, WI.

With colder temps and a few snow flakes in the air, it's going to be a GREAT weekend !! :-)

Oh, and if you haven't already, check out my latest 'Cross video "Twin Cross". The link is on the front page of my site Peloton-Pix.Com. My best video yet ... I think it's pretty good!

= = =

(snip) ... Expect not one but TWO stair run-ups on the sled hill!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northbrook, Illinois- “SAVE FERRIS,” a cyclocross race, will be coming to Northbrook November 9, 2008 at Wood Oaks Green Park as part of the Chicago Cyclocross Cup series. Riders from around IL and WI will line up for a full day of racing in 10 categories that range from beginners and juniors racing for swag and cowbells to elites and professionals racing for dough and perhaps a 'Gummi bear? It's been in my pocket. They're real warm and soft'.

"SAVE FERRIS" is promoted by the Northbrook Bike Club and the Flatlandia Cycling Team with the assistance of the team’s sponsors: George Garner Cyclery, Sunset Foods, the Landmark Inn, Northbrook Bank & Trust, and the Northbrook Park District. Unfortunately, Ferris is too sick to attend and Ed Rooney could not be convinced to officiate the race.

Cyclocross racing is a specialized form of racing where 'only the meek get pinched, the bold survive'. It requires riders to race on a closed-loop circuit, over grass, pavement, gravel, and mud, with barriers and steep run-ups mixed in for additional challenges. Races (by class) vary from 30 to 60 minutes. The pace is frenetic, with little time to rest and less opportunity for “slipstreaming,” as in road races. And no, the 1961 Ferrari 250GT California will not be the pace car. (Cameron killed it)

Promoters Chris Henning and Jason Meshberg said, “Despite Ed Rooney's contention that bike racing is 'A first class ticket to nowhere!', we are excited to be a part of the fastest growing segment of bike racing. An added benefit is that proceeds of the race will support local bicycle safety education initiatives."

While Sloane will not be racing (boo!), Chicagoan Rebecca Much, a five-time U.S. National Champion and Silver medalist at the 2004 Junior World Championships will be. (Yeah!)

The Northbrook Bike Club is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) which organizes and promotes kid cycling events at the Northbrook Park District’s Ed Rudolph Velodrome during the summer and works to promote bicycling and bicycle safety throughout the community.

Also, the NBC does not condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in the opinion of the NBC are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. To quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in The Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. You could be the walrus. And the NBC still has to bum rides off people.
