Very nice.

Refreshing to see after such a poor snow season here.
Although I must say I'm also looking forward to the rollerski season as it means regular outings and always good conditions.

First outing today and with first nice spring weather (+15°) and sun it was very nice indeed.
Was more unsteady than normal, but generally went well. Out of shape though.
Nice to be skiing again.

Horribly out of shape! Missing those months to injury has really put me back. Technique is also bad, it's like the skis are too heavy and the directional stability is not good on the V2's as the forks are definitely not aligned anymore. Bumpy too. I wouldn't mind new skis..

What model of Jenex V2 are they?

It's the XL98RM:
The forks have a design flaw in that they have no sideways stiffeners so bend easily in that direction:
The newer model XLQ98 has integrated the fenders to make a box structure so that should be better in this regard. The forks/fenders are also polymer to save weight, but according to the importer here in Norway, they flex too much if skier weight is above 80kg.

Do you use NNN bindings on those?

Yes, it's the Rottefella NNN R3 as recommended by the importer here:

Aren't the roller skis very tail-heavy with that setup? How much in front of the balance point do you have your bindings?

The balance point is around the middle of the ski, the binding point 10 cm further forward than that.

OK, then your roller skis are clearly tail-heavy and you may have to make ski technique adverse adjustments like the ones Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset presents in the following video:

Yes I've used this video before and (try to) follow the advice to put both wheels down together.
Big trouble is I can't really do two-skate as the skis don't track well and I can't trust full weight balancing on one ski which this technique requires, since the forks are bent.
Incredibly, Jenex don't have any more replacement forks. Very disappointing. (takes an age just get through to Jenex support (3-4 tries, weeks later) so no more Jenex for me)

Putting down both wheels simultaneously is very easy and natural with a balanced roller ski. One shouldn't adapt the technique to a tail-heavy ski.

Yes, I can see that. Would really like lighter skis for the same reason.
But there's no way I can give up the brakes, so it will be difficult to find the perfect replacement.

What, in your opinion, would be the perfect replacement? Would you like me to build them?
